October Breakfast Briefing 2026
Prevention of harassment – all reasonable steps?
Wednesday 7th October 2026
Our Breakfast Briefings are back! Join us on Wednesday 7th October for the latest instalment.
From 30 October 2026, legal protections against sexual harassment will be strengthened under the Employment Rights Act 2025. Employers will be required to take “all reasonable steps” to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace and can be held liable for harassment under any protected characteristics by third parties, such as customers, clients, contractors and visitors. While detailed statutory guidance on what constitutes “all reasonable steps” is not expected until 2027, employers should be taking proactive action now.
This practical session explores what sexual harassment is, how workplace “banter” can cross the line into unlawful conduct, the preventative measures organisations should be taking now, and what the new “all reasonable steps” duty is likely to mean in practice, drawing on current EHRC guidance.
