Our next Member Networking and Best Practice event will be hosted by Babcock International Group at their facility in Rosyth.

Join us on Thursday 29 September, 10.00am-1.00pm for an opportunity to share common challenges, gain a better understanding of how fellow member companies are continuously improving their business, and hear how digitisation is enabling a significant cost reduction in shipbuilding. Our host has generously arranged a tour of their facility, which is home to one of the largest waterside manufacturing and repair facilities in the UK. This short walking tour will provide visitors with a feel for the size of the site and its capability, including the Venturer Build Hall (which is being used for the Type 31 programme) and the advanced manufacturing bays.

Babcock is an international aerospace, defence and security company. They have a leading naval business and provide value-add services across the UK, France, Canada, Australasia and South Africa. Babcock’s Marine Engineering & Systems business, based at Rosyth, offers world-leading products and services for asset owners in the naval, nuclear and energy sectors. With a significant global reach, their Engineering teams are deployed on worldwide projects, across naval architecture, systems engineering, chemical engineering, structural and mechanical engineering, multi-discipline design support and project management.

Their manufacturing capability is optimised for large-scale modular construction serving the marine and energy sectors. Babcock invested approximately £100m over the last decade in Rosyth on physical infrastructure to support the successful delivery of the UK’s aircraft carriers, the largest vessels ever constructed for the Royal Navy. A further £60m has more recently been invested to support the Type 31 frigate build – delivering skills, automated and digitised systems and weather-protected production. The broader site capability includes three dry docks up to 320m in length, with secure non-tidal access and lifting facilities up to 1,000 tonnes.
