Our next Member Networking and Best Practice event will be hosted by ScottishPower Renewables at their Whitelee Windfarm.

Join us on Thursday 19 May, 10.00am-1.00pm for an opportunity to hear industry updates, share common challenges and solutions, and gain a better understanding of how fellow member companies are continuously improving their business. Our host has generously arranged a tour of the windfarm using their onsite EV bus which will provide a fantastic overview of the UK’s largest onshore windfarm.

Located on Eaglesham Moor just 20 minutes from central Glasgow, its 215 turbines generate up to 539 megawatts of electricity, enough to power over 350,000 homes. It covers an area of 83km², with more than 130 kilometres of trails to explore, on foot, by cycle or by horse.

The current site is also being developed to include a 50MW battery, which is currently being constructed and in addition, plans have also been submitted to build a state-of-the-art green hydrogen facility on the site, after securing £9.4m in funding from the UK government.

Whitelee hosts numerous events including an annual ‘Run the Blades’ running festival, incorporating a 10K, half marathon and 50K ultramarathon, as well as many smaller charity events such as sponsored dog walks, equestrian endurance treks and Duke of Edinburgh Award activities.
