Scottish Engineering Equality, Diversity & Inclusion- EDI
Empower Your Leaders. Transform Your Workplace.
Creating an inclusive workplace isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s a business imperative. This dynamic training equips managers with the knowledge, confidence and practical tools to lead diverse teams, prevent discrimination and harassment, and foster a culture where everyone can thrive.
What You’ll Learn:
Understand the principles of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and why they matter for business success. You’ll look at how inclusive practices can boost innovation, employee engagement and organisational reputation
Recognise and address different types of discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment. Through real-life examples and case studies, you’ll understand how these issues arise, the impact they have on individuals and organisations, and the steps managers must take to prevent and respond effectively.
Navigate the legal framework, including the Equality Act 2010 and recent updates such as the Worker Protection Act 2023. You’ll gain clarity on your responsibilities as a manager and the potential consequences of non-compliance. We’ll also discuss the recent push back on EDI that many of our neighbouring nations have implemented.
Apply best practice in recruitment, promotion, training and dismissal to ensuring that every stage of the employee lifecycle is fair, transparent and free from bias. You’ll learn practical strategies to make objective decisions and avoid common pitfalls that can lead to discrimination claims.
Handle complaints effectively and foster a respectful, inclusive team environment. This includes understanding procedures, maintaining impartiality, and creating a culture where employees feel safe to speak up without fear of retaliation.
By the end of the training, participants will be equipped to manage sensitive situations with confidence, reduce legal and reputational risks, and create an environment that drives engagement, innovation and productivity. This course is ideal for line managers, supervisors, team leaders and HR professionals who want to lead inclusively and make a tangible impact on organisational success.
