If the last few years have taught us anything it’s that our industry is truly remarkable, and with another successful sold out awards dinner under our belt, we want to say thank you and express how much we appreciate the effort and support shown for our awards each year.

2026 Scottish Engineering Company of The Year Award – Babcock International Group
The Scottish Engineering Company of the Year Award 2026 was awarded to Babcock International Group. From naval shipbuilding and through-life support to advanced manufacturing, liquid gas engineering and the UK’s world-first submarine dismantling programme, Babcock delivers critical capability for the Royal Navy and global customers. Sir Nick Hine, Chief Executive of Babcock’s Marine Sector, said: “Being named Company of the Year is a tremendous honour for everyone at Babcock. It reflects the skill and commitment of our people, who deliver complex engineering that underpins the UK’s sovereign defence capability every day. From critical naval programmes that keep our armed forces ready, to driving sustainable growth, we are proud of our real‑world impact and to showcase Scottish engineering at its best”.

2026 President’s Award – Balmoral Comtec
The 2026 President’s Award was presented to Balmoral Comtec in Aberdeen. The company said: “Thank you for awarding Balmoral Comtec the Scottish Engineering President’s Award 2026. Since our founding in Aberdeen in 1980, we have focused on solving complex engineering challenges with precision and care. From subsea protection systems to scour protection solutions, our work is grounded in innovation, expertise and close partnership with our customers. This award reflects the dedication of our people and the trust placed in us across the industry. We are proud of what we have achieved and remain committed to delivering with certainty into the future”.

2026 Excellence in Innovation Award – Guala Closures UK
The 2026 Excellence in Innovation Award was awarded to Guala Closures UK. Peter McAllister, General Manager at Guala Closures UK said: “It is a great honour to accept the Scottish Engineering Excellence in Innovation Award on behalf of Guala Closures. 2025 marked a transformational year as we consolidated three legacy sites into a new super factory in Gartcosh, at the heart of the Scotch whisky industry. This represented the largest Italian investment in Scotland. We are deeply grateful for the support of Scottish Enterprise, Scottish Engineering, and our parent group. Innovation drives everything we do, including our world-first electromagnetic forming technology. This award is a testament to the exceptional team we have at Guala.”

2026 Excellence in Energy Transition Award – Emtec Energy Limited
The 2026 Excellence in Energy Transition Award was awarded to Emtec Energy Limited. Chris Clark, Managing Director said “We are incredibly proud to receive the Scottish Engineering Excellence in Energy Transition Award. This recognition reflects the commitment, expertise and innovation of our entire team in delivering complex renewable infrastructure across Scotland and the wider UK. At Emtec Energy, we believe the energy transition must be engineered with discipline, collaboration and long-term thinking with our people at the forefront. From large-scale solar and battery systems to pioneering hydro solutions, we are focused on delivering turn-key engineered solutions which assist businesses in saving money and reducing their carbon footprint. This award reinforces our role in supporting Scotland’s net zero ambitions, and we look forward to continuing to drive progress across the sector.”

2026 Excellence in Manufacturing Award – Sappi Rockwell Solutions Limited
The 2026 Excellence in Manufacturing Award was awarded to Sappi Rockwell Solutions Limited. Greg Hainey, Engineering and Maintenance Manager said “To be shortlisted for this award was already an incredible achievement, especially given the calibre of the other companies recognised. To then be selected as the winner is truly outstanding! This award is a testament to the dedication and resilience of everyone at Sappi Rockwell Solutions who pulled together and stayed united throughout what has been a challenging year. Being recognised by Scottish Engineering with such a prestigious honour makes all the hard work worthwhile. It’s fantastic to see our commitment and determination acknowledged in this way, and I couldn’t be prouder of what our team has achieved”

2026 Outstanding Business Growth Award – Cairnhill Structures Limited
The 2026 Outstanding Business Growth Award was awarded to Cairnhill Structures Limited. Steven Hendry, Group Managing Director said “We are absolutely delighted to receive this recognition. It reflects the continued commitment, resilience, and hard work of our entire team, as well as the strong relationships we have built across the industry. It is a privilege to be acknowledged by Scottish Engineering and we are proud to be part of a community that continues to drive innovation, quality, and growth within the sector. We very much look forward to attending the awards ceremony and celebrating this achievement with our fellow members“.

2026 Business Transformation Award – ATL Turbine Services
The 2026 Business Transformation Award was presented to ATL Turbine Services. Wayne Thompson, Operations Director stated, “Winning the Scottish Engineering Business Transformation Award 2026 is a proud moment for us all at ATL Turbine Services and directly reflects the extraordinary effort our people have put in over the last 12 months. During a very challenging period, the whole team embraced change, personally supported the business, and fully backed our strategic rollout. By aligning behind our strategy, driving operational excellence, and playing a critical role in the research, implementation and adoption of new processes and technologies, the team has delivered a successful turnaround. This award belongs to every single person at ATL Turbine Services. We have built a stronger, more resilient business and I am genuinely excited about the opportunities and future growth ahead”.

2026 Skills Excellence Award – Booth Welsh
The 2026 Skills Excellence Award was presented to Booth Welsh. Martin Welsh, CEO said “I’m delighted that Booth Welsh has received the Scottish Engineering Skills Excellence Award 2026. Our people have always been at the heart of the business—and as an employee-owned company, that matters even more. Creating opportunities for people to develop, progress, and build long-term careers is hugely important in every business. This award reflects the talent, commitment, and support shown across the business every day, and the shared future we are building together. I’d like to thank Scottish Engineering for this recognition”.

2026 Excellence in Export Award – Invinity Energy Systems
The 2026 Excellence in Export Award was presented to Invinity Energy Systems. Paul Docherty, VP Manufacturing Operations, said “The whole Invinity team is delighted to be recognised for Excellence in Export by Scottish Engineering, validating our dedication to pioneering vanadium flow battery (VFB) technology right here in Scotland. Our VFBs are a sustainable and scalable energy storage solution without limits that unlocks all the benefits of abundant clean energy for everyone. This award belongs to our brilliant engineers and partners who have turned a vision of 24/7 renewable energy into a reality. We remain committed to driving engineering excellence and supporting Scotland’s legacy as a world leader in industrial innovation.”

2026 Young Engineer of the Year Award (YEYA26) in partnership with The Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow – Iona McCulloch of LeonardoOur 2026 Young Engineer of the Year Award (YEYA26) in partnership with The Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow was presented to Iona McCulloch of Leonardo for her role as the design lead on the development of an integrated test solution – eliminating testing capability disparity, closing gaps and eliminating pressure on bottlenecks crucial to her project’s delivery.

2026 Runner Up for Young Engineer of the Year Award (YEYA26) in partnership with The Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow – Ellen Taylor of Thales UK

Commendation for 2026 Young Engineer of the Year Award (YEYA26) in partnership with The Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow –
James Sergeant of Castle Precision and Callum Wrathall of Allied Vehicles.
The YEYA26 runner up trophy was awarded to Ellen Taylor of Thales UK for her project that identified critical improvements to increase capacity. Commendations were awarded to James Sergeant of Castle Precision and Callum Wrathall of Allied Vehicles.
Andrew Young, on behalf of The Incorporation of Hammermen of Glasgow quoted, “Once again, the calibre of young engineers participating in the competition was exceptionally impressive. The standard of presentations demonstrated a remarkable depth of engineering talent, creativity and professionalism, of which Scotland can be justifiably proud. Selecting a winner from such a strong field was no easy task, but Iona McCulloch of Leonardo is a thoroughly deserving recipient of the Young Engineer of the Year Award. As design lead for an integrated test solution, Iona tackled a complex challenge with clarity and innovation—closing capability gaps, easing critical bottlenecks and delivering a highly effective solution with outstanding value. Alongside Iona, all our finalists should be proud of their achievements; they are a real inspiration to engineers across Scotland, young and not so young.”


2026 Engineering Graduate Apprentice of the Year Award – Taylor Barr of Ritchie Precision
The 2026 Engineering Graduate Apprentice of the Year was presented to Taylor Barr of Ritchie Precision for his project focusing on introducing Industry 4.0 principles to the shopfloor and improving the control of the company’s CNC programs.

2026 Runner Up for Engineering Graduate Apprentice of the Year Award – Adam Fenwick of Babcock International
The runner up trophy was awarded to Adam Fenwick of Babcock International for his involvement in the Type 31 programme at Babcock’s Rosyth Royal Dockyard and a commendation was awarded to Luke Parkinson of Heat and Control.

Commendation for 2026 Engineering Graduate Apprentice of the Year – Luke Parkinson of Heat and Control

2026 Modern Apprentice of the Year Award – Tyler Trevisani of Babcock International
The 2026 Engineering Modern Apprentice of the Year was presented to Tyler Trevisani of Babcock International for consistently demonstrating dedication, technical skill and professionalism beyond her level of experience and her determination to grow and learn.

2026 Runner Up for Modern Apprentice of the Year Award – Kieran Anderson of Prestwick Aerosystems
The runner up trophy was awarded to Kieran Anderson of Prestwick Aerosystems.

Commendation for 2026 Engineering Modern Apprentice of the Year – Finlay Ross of Halliburton and Scott Satterley of Whittaker Engineering
